JessVickyRegular physical activity reduces the risk of many adverse health conditions. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans*, recommends adults perform a minimum of 150 minutes (2 hrs 30 mins) of moderate intensity exercise each week (preferably spread throughout the week). Additional health benefits occur with longer duration and higher intensity physical activity. All WalkAthlete programs are designed to meet (or exceed) HHS recommendations. The benefits of regular exercise include increased and improved muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, balance and flexibility. We have programs suitable for adults of all ages and fitness levels.

Learn to Speedwalk (Level I)
Walking for exercise is not the same as just walking. Using good athletic walking technique will increase your walking speed and enable you to walk longer distances without increasing effort. You do not have to be super-fit or fast to learn how to speedwalk. Anyone can do it!

Long Distance Training
Our long distance training programs (5k, 10k, & half-marathon) are appropriate for all fitness levels. We don't mind if you walk, stroll, speedwalk, run-walk or run. Endurance training is about distance, not speed; you can train for distance no matter how fast or slow you go! Beginners welcome.

Walking Bootcamp Workout
Walking Bootcamp classes combine walking with bodyweight exercises for a great workout! Classes are designed for those comfortable walking at least 3 miles who do not have balance or stability problems. You don't need to be superfit but you need to be ready to work those muscles pretty hard!
